The Sand Mandala is a Buddhist Meditation practice that has been performed by Monks for centuries. It is a practice that is becoming more and more accessible to people in the western world – and desirable, given its health benefits. This short video gives you a wonderful introduction into this practice. Take a look:
One of the reasons this type of meditative practice has not been accessible to the general public, is because the tools were very hard to find – especially what they call the “Chakpur”, which is the copper funnel that allows for the sand to be poured in a very precise way. The availability of these types of tools, however, is becoming less of an issue – with online stores providing starter kits that make it easy for people to start their own mandala practice (this is an example: Art Therapy Mandala Sand Set). It is our hope, that, because of the therapeutic benefits this type of meditation provides, more and more people will dare to try it and see how their mindfulness grows stronger.
